My photographic “eye” was formed, as a young teen, by absorbing National Geographic magazine, as well as Elliott Porter’s classic photographs – “In Wildness is the Preservation of the World”, published in 1962, by the Sierra Club, who, 30 years later, awarded me their prestigious Ansel Adams Award for my Black and White Landscape Photography.
Throughout my life, I’ve delighted in discovering beauty, whether in a well composed photograph or painting, the intricately carved surface of natural stone, or a roaring waterfall!
The sense of awe and wonder I experience in Wilderness is what I aspire to portray in my scenes from nature, hoping to inspire others to step into the forest and breathe deep!
In my photographic art, I seek to intimately reconnect the eye and heart with the oft forgotten grace, gesture and healing power of the natural world.
I have been very fortunate to have sold my images to nature lovers and corporations around the world, such as: Disney, Toyota, Coors, IBM, Taco-Bell, Barnes and Noble, Random House, Hallmark, Vail Associates, The Environmental Defense Fund, The Nature Conservancy, The Sierra Club, CH2MHill.
